Cheese video image, colour problem

Installed Xubuntu 11.10 amd64 on my desktop, running cheese (version: 3.2.0), the video image appears as black/white video image instead of colour (also magenta coloured lines appearing on the left of the image). No problem with video when using Ekiga! The problem is not reproduced on my netbook.
