out of focus titles at boot-up on Xubuntu 11.10 AMD desktop

Bug Description

After downloading/installing Xubuntu 11.10 AMD 64 desktop, the boot-up screen's titles are out of focus. Also, messages would not send, while in Yahoo e-mail. When I tried to install the latest Updates, a window came up, that said "Installer is broken" due to possible 3rd party programs. It also said to enter in the Terminal, this message: APT-get install-f When I did so, nothing happened? So, I re-installed the program, but I still get the out of focus titles at boot-up--everything else seems to work.
