Doing a ping to www.google.com fails but even ifconfig shows connection

and then nothing. Hope this helps. Though it looks like a problem with T-mobile Webconnect Rocket 2.0 device, but network manager recognizes the device ad should have its setting.

Indeed seems like that device might not be properly supported by NM/MM. Was it working in previous releases?

No the device was not even recognized in previous release. Ubuntu recognizes it and forms a connection but no internet.

Though some people made it work earlier : http://www.fogel.ca/2010/10/05/t-mobile-webconnect-rocket-2-0-on-debianubuntu/

I did not try it and my ubuntu oneric was a fresh install.

If you check in

gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/40-usb_modeswitch.rules

You will also find details of the model.

Hey seems like you connected to the pseudo ethernet port of the device. Try creating a new mobile broadband connection
