Bug Description

1. Try to install libwv-1.2-3 (or AbiWord, which depends on it) by any method.

What happens: It doesn't work.
What should happen: It does.

  404 Not Found
Failed to fetch http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/w/wv/libwv-1.2-3_1.2.4-2ubuntu3_amd64.deb 404 Not Found
E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?
mpt@zephyr:~$

(Neither apt-get update nor --fix-missing helps.)

Andrew Glen-Young and I have discovered that:

- wv was apparently promoted from Universe to Main in May 2008 (bug 215209).

- However, <https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wv> still says that the package is in Universe.

- apt-cache madison says it's in Universe too:
--------------
mpt@zephyr:~$ apt-cache madison libwv-1.2-3
libwv-1.2-3 | 1.2.4-2ubuntu3 | http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/universe amd64 Packages
        wv | 1.2.4-2ubuntu3 | http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/universe Sources
--------------

- Despite that, the package is in the main/ directory on archive.ubuntu.com. <http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/w/wv/libwv-1.2-3_1.2.4-2ubuntu2_amd64.deb>

- On some of the mirrors, the package is in both the main/ *and* universe/ directories.

- Until a manual sync on 2011-09-01, the gb. mirror had symlinks from where the package would have been in universe/ to where it would have been in main/, and these symlinks were broken.

Problem of the gb mirror (nz fails as well)? I tried on {fr,se,us,de,ch}.archive.ubuntu.com, and it's here...

Looks like it exists in the us archives, per
apt-cache policy libwv-1.2-3
libwv-1.2-3:
  Installed: 1.2.4-2ubuntu3
  Candidate: 1.2.4-2ubuntu3
  Version table:
 *** 1.2.4-2ubuntu3 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

also, the fact that the beta1 images dated 20110831.1 are installing would indicate this is working. If abiword doesn't install, the images fail.

After a manual sync of the archive (thanks Andrew Glen-Young), it's gone back to a 404.
