Bug Description

While I have no intention of using gdm others may and this could present some issues, could also come into play in an upgrade to 11.10?
May have been behind bugs causing synaptic not to start resulting in a change there, would certainly affect some other things like dpkg-reconfigure

Marking invalid - when filed couldn't run some commands while in gdm like sudo dpkg-reconfigure, now can in recent new install
