OpenOffice should be updated regularly

Bug Description

OpenOffice and Firefox are the most important applications. Recently, due to the agreement between Mozilla and Ubuntu, we receive updates of Firefox via Synaptic. It should be the same with OpenOffice. As far as I know, we can expect new release of OpenOffice every two or three monts and it would mean that users of Ubuntu will be always using an old version.

Hi, thanks for your bug report.

Every 6 moths you have a new Ooo version (if it is available). Do you think this is a unacceptable delay? I guess no.

The Ubuntu release schedule (a new release each 6 months) lets you have the latest version of most used softwares.

By the way, if a security hole is found, surely you have an update available, in one, two days, thanks our Security Team.

To have a new version of OOo every six months is really acceptable, but according to the release plans of Ubuntu, we will have a stable release only once in a year. Dapper > (Edgy) > Feisty. That would lead to using of a seriously outdated version of OOo if you stick with stable releases.
