Binary package hint: openoffice.org
It seems that many of the bugs related to OO shipped with Ubuntu are Ubuntu and Debian specific. People have suggested that this is related to the way OO is compiled with gcj.
There are many reports in launchpad concerning wizards that simply won't work because of this, making the suite useless (i.e. OO base form wizard is broken). More details can be found here :

However, if a user installs the OpenOffice.org version (using alien tool) the suite works as it is supposed to.
So, I believe that Ubuntu should provide an Open Office that works just like in Suse, Fedora and even Windows......Please fix that. It's a major pain having to install the suite from scratch for the end user!!
I've no problem with it in Edgy or Feisty (dev branch). Isn't gcj (and gij) part of the base install ?
