Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

I have two displays, laptop display and an external display. I have an nvidia 8600gt graphics card and i'm using the proprietary drivers from nvidia. When I maximize a window on the secondary display, in some applications (tested with firefox) the window is not visible, you just see it's associated controls and title/menu on the panel on that screen. Other times the application (tested with terminal, eye of gnome and banshee) maximizes, but on the main screen, but it's controls are visible on the panel from the secondary screen(where they should be). I will try to attach two screen-shots, one with firefox and the other with eye of gnome. (i haven't used launchpad before, but let's hope i'll be able to) This behavior is reproducible absolutely every time.

Other related issues (maybe i'll fill in some separate bug reports on these if someone instructs me so):
*I can't reproduce this anymore, but yesterday when maximizing banshee, it would maximize correctly on the secondary screen but the panel would cover the application.
*Sometimes (often) when i resize an application on the secondary screen it crashes (happened with terminal and banshee)
*When dragging a window from the main display to the secondary display (the main display is above the secondary one), i can't keep dragging when the cursor reaches the panel from the secondary screen... i have to press alt and drag the window from the middle to achieve this. This was reproducible with every app, every time today, but it was not reproducible yesterday during a certain period of time, but it did happen.

the previous screenshot is with firefox, the window is not seen at all.

adding screenshot with eye of gnome(eye of gnome is actually displaying the first screenshot, so please don't let this confuse you)
this screenshot depicts the scenario where the app is visible but on the wrong screen.

Regarding the related issue "Sometimes (often) when i resize an application on the secondary screen it crashes (happened with terminal and banshee)" which i mentioned above, i discovered that:
- if you resize the window from the bottom, or bottom corners it crashes every time
- if you resize the window from the sides or top or top corners then it does not
