Bug Description

I noticed this problem while attempting to update an Edgy system to Feisty. It happened with wvdial version 1.56-1.1ubuntu1; However, it may very well be present in earlier versions of the wvdial package, as I haven't used this sound module in several years.

To reproduce:
Connect a Roland sc88-pro to ttyS0, and then attempt to configure wvdial via dpkg.

Upon doing this on my machine, everything hangs, and I'm forced to kill the dpkg process. If I switch off the Roland, everything works fine.
I realize this problem is pretty hardware specific, so I'll be happy to do whatever is necessary to help troubleshoot. If there are any logs that would assist in shedding light on this, or anything else I can do, please let me know.
