3) What is expected to happen in a brand new install of remmina is click button New > Name example > Server 192.168.1.2 > Username example > Password example > next to Resolution click radio button Use client resolution > click button Save > highlight the new connection > Tools > Export > Name example > Save and it doesn't crash.
4) What happens instead is it crashes consistently:

WORKAROUND: Use a custom resolution.
Reproducible since Ubuntu 10.10 remmina 0.9.3.1-0~ppa2, and in Trusty.
