Bug Description

It should be possible to toggle mini-mode by some form of clicking the slider between 'categories' and 'search results' panes. This way, you could quickly toggle between mini and maxi, without the need to enter the options dialog.

Of course this is a minor nitpick but Thiago left a TODO about this in the code a long time ago so maybe we should at least discuss this.

When we talked about this (me and Thiago), he seemed to like the idea of collapsing the slider when user clicks it but he's not trying to move it (important!).

I personally think that a double click would feel much more natural, because mini-mode changes the size of Cardapio's window, a bit like minimize / maximize actions when you double click near the top of any window.

What do you guys think?

Yes, I remember we discussed that somewhere. I guess we should really just use wishlist bugs to track planned features. ;)

And it’s a great idea! This doesn’t seem a minor nitpick but a natural way to discover the mini-mode. I only have to disagree with you on the double-clicking: that is not easily discoverable in this context – when you want a smaller window (that mini-mode essentially is) you just resize it. Imagine you want an application smaller and do not know of such a thing as mini-mode (which no one will by default) – you grab it by the edges.

It could be triggered two ways:
When resizing the side pane with the separator
When resizing the whole menu with the outer margins
In both cases, when going below a certain width (of the side pane respective the application menu), e. g. when the labels are not reasonably visible anymore, it should just snap to the mini-mode (and vice versa).
