This printer works good on breezy , almost good on dapper and now stop working on edgy tested on two machine .
I investigate that there is also a path problem because Cups web interface doesn't charge ppd file after installation. This printer has only a binary driver from seiko/epson.

Carsten Busse added the following on the Epson website:

"Since updating to ubuntu edgy i had a showstopper with the printer driver/filter for the aculaser cx11.

The foomatic filter seems to break the pipe, so the printing always stopped.

After a bit of log file debugging i found out that in the script
/usr/bin/pstoalcx11.sh is making some problems (at east on ubunt edgy amd64) and its the bash arithmetic syntax which had some change.

Lines using arithmetic like $((Copies+1)) need to
changed to $(($Copies+1)) etc to make it
work again!

there are three occurences in line 202,228 and
229 which need to be changed. this will
work on all bash's"

This works for me using a SMB connected C100 from Edgy, hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for the fix !
Worked great for me as well (AL-C1100 USB on Edgy)
In my case the faulty bash script was /usr/local/bin/pstoalc1100.sh
There were 4 syntax errors, on lines 197, 203, 226 and 229.

Doesn't work for me - the only place where I have a pstoalc1100.sh file is in the original tar.gz archive.

I've used the ppd file, since ./configure and make install doesn't work (error messages says: no cups-config found - I have cups installed though and can access another printer just fine).

Also, the pstoalc1100.sh file doesn't have a single line where it says $((Copies+1))

Got it to work, finally!
After searching the forums a little more I could install the drivers using configure/make/make install, then adapted the .sh-file and then I connected not using CUPS, but HPdirect. Works like a charm.

Thanks!

Well, I do use another package since I didn't get my printer running with the stuff provided in Edgy... I have no trouble printing using another driver, so no complaints there. ;-)
