Same problem here with an asus eeepc 1001px: sound card not detected at all in Maverick.

Same with issue; same hardware, no sound no matter what I do.

This is very probably related to incorrect pin parsing/assignment. Please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/676363/comments/3.

I have the same Motherboard, i was able to fix the issue by added the two lines to the bottom of the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file.

alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=auto

$ sudo dmidecode -t 1
# dmidecode 2.9
SMBIOS 2.4 present.

Handle 0x0001, DMI type 1, 27 bytes
