Error for wireless request "Set Power Management"

Bug Description

Binary package hint: wireless-tools

Package Version: 28-1ubuntu2 (edgy)
Wireless Driver: ipw2200

When I try to power up my my wireless interface with:

   sudo iwconfig eth1 power 1

I get th following error:

   Error for wireless request "Set Power Management" (8B2C) :
   SET failed on device eth1 ; Input/output error.

Does this still happen? Does this prevent your wireless from working?

The error doesn't appear, but setting power to 0 doesn't prevent the wireless from working.

It's my understanding that "power" changes power management settings. Is that different from what you're trying to do? How is this command necessary?
