Bug Description

After latest update from the testing repository, Task Manager is crashing all the time. I'm running Maverick 64-bit.

The terminal gives me:

** (avant-window-navigator:3328): DEBUG: Spawned awn-applet[3374] for "taskmanager.desktop", UID: 1286896953, XID: 29360184

** (awn-applet:3374): WARNING **: Helpers are not available...
Please make sure you have dockmanager package installed.

** (awn-applet:3374): CRITICAL **: File not found: '/home/.../.config/awn/launchers/1286714148-Spotify.desktop'
** (awn-applet:3374): DEBUG: task_manager_refresh_launcher_paths: Bad desktop file '/home/.../.config/awn/launchers/1286714148-Spotify.desktop'

** (awn-applet:3374): CRITICAL **: File not found: '/home/.../.config/awn/launchers/1286807822-software-properties-gtk.desktop'
** (awn-applet:3374): DEBUG: task_manager_refresh_launcher_paths: Bad desktop file '/home/.../.config/awn/launchers/1286807822-software-properties-gtk.desktop'
** (avant-window-navigator:3328): DEBUG: AwnPanel: DBus object :1.1001 didn't call UninhibitAutohide!

My launcher list is empty at this time, but is Awn expecting to find those launchers there? If so.. why?

Those messages are basically informational. If the launchers are not present it then taskmanager just skips over them (or it should at least). Is it actually crashing or just emitting those messages?

It's actually crashing yes. I'm unable to Awn at the moment.

I'll attach a video, so you'll se what's (not) happening.

Please install gdb, libawn1-dbg and run Awn via terminal using `AWN_APPLET_GDB=1 avant-window-navigator`. This should produce more useful crash log.

The "`menu_proxy_module_load': avant-window-navigator: undefined symbol: menu_proxy_module_load" bit is just plain odd.

@David: Do you have appmenu-gtk installed? Or did you had it installed and removed it?

Also, could you remove the Preferences applet and see what happens? (+crashlog if it still crashes)

Confirmed as an issue with vala 0.10, the code it generates from dock-manager-api.vala causes seg fault.

A workaround is to remove Preferences applet for the moment.

Sweet. Disabling the Preferences applet works great as a workaround, until next build.. Thanks!
