Root applications (e.g. Synaptic) have local menu only

Bug Description

Appmenu installed on a Maverick system, switching over from globalmenu-gnome.

Normal-user apps seem to work fine.
It seems to be completely consistent, as i've tried it with Synaptic, Gedit and Gnome-terminal, any app not running as current user will only get the local menu, and no global menu

I can confirm this. Running 'sudo synaptic' from gnome-terminal and I only see local menus for synaptic.

Changed in appmenu-gtk:
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → Low

Appmenu on Maverick:
GTK apps as "normal-user" works fine.
KDE apps (eg Kmplot, Kstars, Kalzium, etc.) running OK.
The problem appears as "root ". Apps running as root (nautilus, sinaptic, gedit, gnome-terminal) only shows local menu.
