Bug Description
Binary package hint: grub2
this is the latest ubuntu 10.10 release from 10.10.10 :o).
steps to reproduce:
* install ubuntu 10.10 to an usb harddrive (/dev/sdc) from an usb stick (/dev/sdb)
* finish installation
* unplug the stick on reboot. boot from the usb harddrive
* wait
The init.rd won't find the root filesystem, because you removed the usb stick and the device name for the usb harddrive is now /dev/sdb instead of /dev/sdc. temp fix is pluggin in the usb stick again and then again choose the harddrive as boot device. persistent fix is editing the /boot/grub/grub.cfg file and replace the root=/dev/sdc parameter with root=UUID=
