Rationale: Required for kubuntu-mobile images : see bug #626543 for the alternative (considered more dangerous, and harder to maintain long-term)

approved MIR. would be great to have the translations to use standard mechanisms tough (unless kubuntu stuff never uses those). Please open a bug for that accordingly.
