This problem could be due to rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store . Uninstall rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store package and then try opening rhythmbox again.

Changed in rhythmbox (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Incomplete

As far as I know, the Wishlist category is associated with minor irritants. This bug is regarding the failure of an application to launch in the first place. Surely that merits something higher than 'Wishlist'.

you're correct, wishlist is not the right status for this report, it needs to be reassigned to the rhythmbox ubuntu one store though, reassigning.

affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) → rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store (Ubuntu)

Could you also try to obtain a backtrace manually following the instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

Crash still occurs after music store is removed, so I am changing the bug back to the rhythmbox package.

affects: rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store (Ubuntu) → rhythmbox (Ubuntu)

the crash is coming from libnss_wins , are you using samba ?

After having updated the computer, the bug is gone, except for when I try to use Last.FM. Accordingly, I will file a new bug report, and close this one.

Looks like I spoke too soon. The bug is still there. As for Samba, I don't see it running in the System Monitor, but maybe there is another place to check?

For what reason. I already mentioned in #12 that I was mistaken in thinking that the bug was caused by Last.FM. Rythmbox crashes regardless.

Oh, never mind. I'll just file the bug with rhythmbox-plugins and if they tell me to change it again, I'll change it again.
