Bug Description

I installed Kububtu 10.04 and Linux Mint 9 both on my laptop. I installed smartpm with apt-get in each and found the smart search function is not working in either. I also have upgraded my third distribution on the same Dell laptop kubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 and it works perfectly.

not a programmer just an end user ... when can I apply fix and how or is

There is a patch in the (other) bug, but the easiest to wait for the package to be updated to 1.3.1 or fixes backported. Bug #590045 was another duplicate of the same issue.
