four fingers in the selector tool's icon

Thank you for giving us the info for these files. I have looked in the source to see that is correct.
I use Ubuntu a lot and the theme pushes there Icons. I had a change to start a windows system to view the program there it was four fingers. Also confirmed on my MAC Pro and Mac air, Also shows this my Vista system. Windows 7 I still have to try, but most likely there as well.
I have a branch with new versions of them I added an attachment to this as well.
I looked at the branches on sourceforge and here I might be wrong, but the original files are shown below I will check again.
Can someone please view these new files see if they will work?? Also if needed I can fix, alter my files in any way you need.

I made the new ones select with black and node white it will take nothing to change back.

Attaching preview of proposed new cursors with 5 fingers, both the first proposal and the black variant - so that it can be compared/commented on by those who don't want to or can't recompile Inkscape to view the new cursors.

Personally I think the black hand symbol is too dark (or "heavy") and distracts from the actual target of the pointer.

@~suv thank you is there a color that the team would prefer?

White was the original, and the five fingers is that a better view?

Imho, the black version is indeed too dark and contrasts far too much with the rest of the interface as opposed to the white five-fingered alternative.
