It's been over a year now and I haven't seen any movement on this. Colour correction is a really big deal in making Openshot a great video editor. Effects are nice but are fairly limited in scope whereas colour correction allows for all sorts of awesomeness.

Is there any progress to report?

There's nothing to report as yet, but we'll take a look at the options in the current development cycle.

I have made two basic color correction effects, levels and RGB color adjustment, see attachments.

The levels effect is not working correctly though, the values for the colors and luma are not separately adjustable. Maybe there is some more code needed in OpenShot to make this work, but I'm not sure.

The RGB color adjustment is working, but version 1.2 of the frei0r-plugins is needed. Also, I found a small bug in the source code of the frei0r coloradj_RGB filter, but I have no idea where to file a bug report (the mailing list seems to be dead).

That's fantastic news, Joop!

Sure, it's a shame there's some problems, but this is major progress. :D

Thanks Joop. I can't see a problem with the Levels effect, at least, it is working the same way as it does in Kdenlive - they've had this effect for some time, so you would think they've got the implementation right by now :-)
So expect this one to land in trunk soon...

For the Frei0r mailing list, did you try

http://piksel.no/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/frei0r-devel

That looks active. For Frei0r 1.2 effects, we will need to add some extra code to verify what is installed on a users machine. This shouldn't be too difficult, but we'll hold off adding any of the 1.2 effects until that 's done.

OK, thanks. I didn't look at Kdenlive yet, but if this is the intended behavior for the levels effect its not very useful imho. I mean, that's the whole point for level adjustment: that you can modify each channel separately! But hey, it's better than nothing I suppose...

(and thanks for the link, I will check it out!)
