Hello Monkey,

Thanks for taking care of this report. Sorry for not uploading the syslog. I retried to install and can now upload the syslog (see new file attachment). Please do not wonder about the date and time recorded...the system clock's battery has to be replaced.
By the way, it seems that the error comes up even before I select any installation language, I just have to wait for a while.
The problem is occurring on a Compaq Armada M700, Pentium III 750 Mhz, 256 MB RAM.

Regards from Germany

P.S. additional Info: after the error came up the first time I created a 10GB ext4 partition with Gparted, but did not help solving the problem.

Hi Monkey,

With my Pentium III 750 Mhz, 256 MB RAM I think I need an Xfce Version, otherwise Mint will run very slowly. I just checked at http://www.linuxmint.com...no Xfce version for 9rc available yet. Pity.

Yes, I installed Xubuntu 10.04. and can now just tell other people with similar pc's/notebooks (Compaq Armada Pentium III 750 Mhz, 256 MB RAM)...just don't try! With XP the laptop boots in approx. 5 minutes (incl. antivirus). Wih Xubuntu 10.04. it became a nightmare....it took more than 10 minutes to boot. After booting the memory usage was at 85%-90% and every click takes minutes to be "executed". I think the only solution might now be optinng for puppy linux.

Don´t worry, Linux Mint 9 was released, so wait to the lxde or fluxbox edition.

The latest edition has been completed so you need to try the LXDE version that is available on the site before we can confirm whether this can be closed out or not. Thank You :)
