Bug Description

Since this program does not have a import export feature to backup I did as your site said and copied the hidden folder. When I put it back into my new Ubuntu release from my back up drive it does not work. Luckily I did not trust it and had continued to use paper to. I guess I will stick with paper until this program gets polished some more.

I did this and it does not work
Once you install a new system, just put what you backed up in your new Home directory and you should be good to go!

Yes it was in ~/.local/share/wxbanker but it still does not work!

Sorry to hear you encountered this issue! wxBanker keeps your data in the file "bank.db" inside of ~/.local/share/wxbanker. Have you restored that file? Let me know the results of an "ls ~/.local/share/wxbanker" and I will see what I can do. What version did you upgrade from?

Changed in wxbanker:
status: New → Incomplete

Yes I have been running Ubuntu since 8.04 and yesterday I switched to
10.04. Before I did I current back up all my files to my external HD.
Your wxBanker program I was using in 9.1 had the wxBanker folder in my
home directory (hidden) I copied it to a thumb drive along with my
Firefox bookmarks and my Evolution Mail export.
After installing 10.04 I found it it now stored them in
~/.local/share/wxbanker. So I replaced that folder with the one on my
thumb drive. It saw one account and one record, that's it.
I liked your program too bad about the backup situation. May I suggest
you make it a priority to incorporate a import export utility
something like Mail does, it works great.
For now I will now be using a template I found in Open Office (spreadsheets)
Take Care and good luck
Glenn

It may be a case issue, ie the old folder was ~/.wxBanker (with a capital B) but the new one is ~/.local/share/wxbanker, not with a dot and not with a capital letter.

It should migrate for you however, so maybe you tried to outsmart it :) If you just put your old directory at ~/.wxBanker with the bank.db, and delete the ~/.local/share/wxbanker, it should migrate for you. Or, make sure the directory you moved is the same location.

This should really work, I've done lots of upgrade / migration testing, I suspect there is a typo somewhere in your manual migration. Can you check or try the other methods?

OK, I think did this once already but tried it again. The hidden
folder that use to be in my home directory (Ubuntu 9.1) that contained
the bank.db file was copied to a thumb drive. After I installed Ubuntu
10.04 and downloaded the new wxBanker program I found the folder in my
home folder .local/share with my file browser. I opened it up and
deleted the .db file and replaced it with the .db file from my thumb
drive. Instead of about 100 entries I have 2. I changed the whole
folder out too with the same result. Maybe the original got corrupted,
who knows?
Let me know if you ever incorporate a export/import option in the menu
somerthing like Evolution Mail has.

Take Care,
Glenn

There is a very basic version of Export in 0.8, let me know your thoughts on it!
