Bug Description

Lance,

In addition to a little banner on the home page somewhere that explains DAISY stuff (which I'll design today), we should add screenreader-friendly hidden fields to the home page that directs people using screenreaders straight to either search or browse available talking books.

Since we're hooking everything to a subject - "Talking books" - we can use a subject page for browsing, and a specific search URL that selects that subject as a facet to search.

Browse: http://openlibrary.org/subjects/talking-books
Search: http://upstream.openlibrary.org/search?subject_facet=Talking-books

Let me know when you're ready to whip this up, and we can write any copy together. (I'm not sure what's possible here.)

Oops - this URL Search: http://upstream.openlibrary.org/search?subject_facet=Talking-books should not be Upstream, but www.

Changed in openlibrary:
assignee: nobody → Lance Arthur (lance-arthur)
milestone: none → daisy
importance: Undecided → High

Just as an FYI, there's a CSS class called "shift" that will place a not-hidden something (add the class to a div or a p) on a page, but position the thing 10,000 pixels to the left of the screen, effectively hiding it from view, but still displaying it as far as the browser is concerned. I think this should handle any cases of "hiding" something, but not "not displaying" it.

The search link above is invalid. What's the correct link (already tried http://openlibrary.org/search?subject_facet=Accessible-book which doesn't yield any results). The subject link is in place.

You can see the search link on the Subject page (next to the Related... heading). It's a bit tricksy:

http://openlibrary.org/search?subject_facet=Accessible%20book

(space and not a - between words)

Both links are in place. Some copy finesse might be required. (Located here: http://openlibrary.org/upstream/templates/type/home/view.tmpl )
