When you get the black screen, please press "ctrl-alt-f2". This will bring you to a virtual terminal. From there type `apport-collect 553450`. This will gather debugging information and attach it to this bug.

Thanks!

Elias,

Boot the CD and when you see the keyboard icon press the space bar key. This will bring up the advanced boot options menu. Select a language and then press F6, followed by escape. You should see a line of text. At the end of this line, add the following:
blacklist=vga16fb nouveau.modeset=0

Make sure to leave a space between -- and blacklist. Press enter to boot.

Do you still get the black screen with these options added?

Follow the steps you took before, but in addition to adding the blacklist line, remove the "quiet" and "splash" words from the line.

Does this get you any further?
