checkinstall segfaults when doing 'chekinstall make install'

Bug Description

in Dapper checkinstall segfaults when trying to make a deb from source by tyypin #checkinstall mke install
this may be because of the c++ transition, I do no really know.

Installing with "make install"...

hi!it's me again!
did some research, and found out dapper had ver. 1.5.3-3ubuntu1 of checkinstall. however,I found out on the site of checkinstall (http://asic-linux.com.mx/~izto/checkinstall/docs/RELNOTES) that this bug is fixed in ver. 1.6.0, if it IS the bug which they write about:
"Fixed the bug in installwatch that caused segfaults when running on newer glibc versions (And therefore newer distros like FC and SuSe 9.1)"

Same as posted by J happens here with Dapper Flight 3, I downloaded .deb file version 1.6.0, compiled and installed. Now works.

Downloaded deb file http://asic-linux.com.mx/~izto/checkinstall/files/deb/checkinstall_1.6.0-1_i386.deb as mentioned here: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=115566 works just fine.

Please update in repository also, current package there is broken and unusable.
