Bug Description

MailApplet crashes when I try to log in to my gmail account.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 1,
Package versions for avant-window-navigator, libawn1, avant-window-navigator-data, python-awn, awn-settings are 0.4.0~rc1-0ubuntu1.
Package versions for awn-applets-c-extras, awn-applets-python-extras, awn-applets-c-core, python-awn-extras, awn-applets-python-core are 0.3.9~bzr1944-0ubuntu1.
All were downloaded via Lucid Universe repository.

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/awn/extras/awnlib.py", line 1462, in init_start
    applet_class(applet)
File "/usr/share/avant-window-navigator/applets/mail/mail.py", line 78, in __init__

    % (self.key.attrs["username"], self.key.password))
KeyError: 'username'

This happens every time I try to log in.

Hi,

I'm unable to replicate this. Could you please try the version from the testing ppa - https://edge.launchpad.net/~awn-testing/+archive/ppa and let me know if it works for you.

@muscardinus: The version in Lucid is the same as the one in PPA.

The applet should now handle this gracefully, but this probably does not solve the problem.

Could someone that's having this issue let me know if thinks improved and if not explain in more detail how to replicate this error. Thanks.

I'm affected too.

To replicate it, just simply add a gmail user and restart your pc.
When awn starts, the applet crashes and return this error.

I think that could be a problem with some type of password keeper, because after Ubuntu ask me to unlock the wallet everything goes right (not always, but most)...

I think it's a problem when the keyring from gnome-keyring is not unlock at login time. It's a common bug on Lucid, gnome-keyring sometimes didn't unlock the keyring on login.

I have several bugs like them on Ubuntu (bug 549062, bug 560360, bug 560302)

To be perfect, the applet should ask to unclock the keyring itself, if it's not unlock.

Julien I agree with your assessment; when I unlock my keyring then restart the mail applet all is well, but never until the key ring is unlocked.

I can't reproduce this particular backtrace, but I am confident that this bug is fixed in revision 1395. Could you please test it when a new PPA arrives and give some feedback, whether the problem still exists.

As said before in comment #8 I'm quite certain this is fixed. Should you still encounter this problem, please change the status of this bug to "new".
