Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubuntu-sounds
If you change the volume level in Ubuntu, you have no sound notification.
Only a graphic notifcation and the volume indicator applet.
I think it´s importent to get a volume sound notification in Lucid.
Once again this is a great feature for humanity and usability for the users in Ubuntu.

This bug is related to (but not a duplicate of) bug #538757 and bug #538761 . Ubuntu's modifications to upstream components have resulted in the volume change sounds not being triggered. (The one place that still does, at the moment, is the Sound Preferences dialog).
The other side to the issue, which this bug report conveniently fills, is that Ubuntu's sound theme is dated and doesn't contain sounds like "audio- volume- change" . The FreeDesktop sound theme has that and more -- it could be all right to have Ubuntu's sound theme inherit from that, if space permits.
