It's my considered opinion that this is the fundamental operation for a popular illustration authoring tool.
something akin to web-fonts for a text editor.
fwiw:
I would also suggest that for kidscape, or another tool this be known as copy and paste.
copy and edit being used where the author wishes to edit content.
