assertionerror in _find_most_recent_ancestor

I’m experiencing the same bug from sourceforge and from bitbucket when pulling from Launchpad: the bug probably don’t come from the Mercurial server.
Here is my project where the bugs appears :

For the last one, I just don’t understand: twice it works, but then it systematically failed!
Hoping it would be useful...

Since it frozes the development of some projects on Launchpad, I suggest to mark it as important.

FWIW, for https://code.launchpad.net/~andialbrecht/python-sqlparse/main the series of errors was

- some successful imports
- 2010-11-18 Timeout
- 2010-11-19 - 2010-11-20 KeyError in manifest_to_inventory_delta
- then today the assertionerror in _find_most_recent_ancestor

I found an workaround:
- Delete the branch and import it again...
but this doesn't seem a solution... So this happens for me on the second import each time:

I really don't understand the randomness.
Wouldn't it be a acceptable workaround to discard the branch internally and reimport it instantly?

When the (mercurial) import is currently pre-alpha why this is be considered as an import option?
Like Martin Bodin said it freezes the development... Please solve this fast, or do a workaround.

Allright... I confused it with another project. It is mercurial so I don't know if these logs may be helpfull. Anyway sorry for the Spam.

I'm not sure, I'll have to look into it a bit closer. The fix does seem
to have fixed most of the occurances of this bug on Launchpad, so
perhaps it's a separate but related issue you're hitting.
