Bug Description

Binary package hint: xchat

Freenode recently added supported for SSL connections.

The entries for "Ubuntu Server" and "FreeNode" should be updated to connect on port 7000, and have "Use SSL for all the servers on this network" set.

Thanks a lot for reporting this, however this does not qualify as a papercut since xchat is not a part of the default Ubuntu installation, rather Empathy is shipped as the default IM/IRM client.

More information on what constitutes a papercut may be found here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

This also applies to OFTC and probably some other networks. There is no reason to configure not to use SSL by default. (On Freenode or OFTC, somebody eavesdropping can steal the nickserv password then impersonate the user....)
