Bug Description

Well. Maybe someone reported this one back then, I don't know. Checked the open bugs list, and I didn't find anything like this.

So. If I select temp folder .... like.. /home/username/Downloads/1_torrent/uncomp
and select /home/username/Downloads/1_torrent/comp as download folder, it won't matter. qBittorrent opens a qBT_dir and starts downloading there..and thats all. Tried on two PC, no effect.

As I said, I'm not sure. Maybe I did a mistake, it happens, sorry if thats the case.

Say if you need ANY other, extra information.

AND its closely related to this. The "temp folder" 's "browse button" wont open anything. Its just..there.. :)

TIA.

Yes, I'm aware about the button not working and it is fixed in SVN (future v2.0.3 that should be released today or tomorrow).

However, I'm not aware that the temp folder option is not working. I'll try to reproduce right now.

Well, I cannot reproduce the issue here. Could you please tell me exactly what you did?

I did the following:
1. Go to program preferences and set a temp folder (~/qBT_dir/temp).
2. Add a torrent to qBittorrent and choose "~/qBT_dir" as destination folder (in torrent addition dialog)
3. Torrent appears in "~/qBT_dir/temp" folder, which is the expected behavior.

What exact version of qBittorrent are you using? How did you add the torrent to the download list? Is torrent addition dialog enabled?

Now it worked. Uhm.. a bit strange.

So. Defined the folders. Then nothing changed. Restart client. Nothing. Start torrents, the client stucks for a few minutes. It moves the files to the right place. Good. But if I try to add a new .torrent again, it shows the default ~/qBT_dir/ folder. :/

Forgot. qBittorrent version 2.0.2. Used "ABS" (Arch Build System).

The usual way. Replace version from 1.5.6 to 2.0.2. PKGREL = 1.

makepkg

It downloads the source, warns me that md5 is not correct. md5sum *.gz , write the md5 into pkgbuild. makepkg , and then install the package.

You did not answer some of my question like "Is torrent addition dialog enabled?", "How did you add the torrent to the list?".

Please check your hard disk to see where the files are actually downloaded. Note that the path displayed in properties panel is always the "final destination path" and not the temporary one. This is a wanted behavior.

If torrent addition dialog is enabled, please check what save path you chose in this dialog.

In v2.0.3, I use the path set in program preferences as a default in torrent addition dialog. However, in previous releases, I did not check the path set in program preferences.

So you may have overwritten your final destination path set in program preferences because of the path set in torrent addition dialog. However, the temporary save path from program preferences should be taken into consideration (check your hard disk to see if it downloads to your uncomp folder).

I hope you can give me some feedback as soon as possible because I plan to
release v2.0.3 tonight or tomorrow and it would be nice if it included the
fix (if necessary).

I will leaving on holidays tomorrow night.

Uhm SO.

- Torrent addition was enabled.
- How? Opening from qBittorrent (that file icon).

Sorry for answering this late , launchpad didnt send me any email yesterday. I was only checking the page regularly.

Downloaded a new file.

So. It shows the "/home/shiki/qBT_dir". BUT it downloads to the temp dir. AND finally, it moves it to the "/home/shiki/qBT_dir". So that text is not just a showoff when I add a torrent. Again, I used the add file dialog.

But the question still is:

In the torrent addition dialog, what save path did you select? If you path
specified in the torrent addition dialog is "/home/shiki/qBT_dir" then it
seems that qBittorrent behavior is OK. Remember that v2.0.2 does not
necessarily keep the same download path in program preferences and in the
torrent addition dialog.

Then its all good. Sorry for "stealing" your time. Eager to see 2.0.3 ..will try it out ASAP. :)

(Sorry for reporting this "bug" then. I just want to make qBittorrent better...not your mental state worse.. :))

Well, qBittorrent is a GUI to libtorrent-rasterbar library. As a consequence, I would add this support to qBittorrent when libtorrent-rasterbar implements it.

I would not be surprised if it was implemented in libtorrent-rasterbar in the future because libtorrent-rasterbar author is also working on µTorrent (and working for Bittorrent Inc.). So, let's hope he implements it.
