Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

This morning I updated Firefox and some other packages because the update manager said new packages were available. Now I am unable to start firefox from either launcher or the commandline. From the commandline it just hangs with no errors or CPU usage. I have tried firefox -safe-mode and also deleting my profile and neither makes a difference.

Version 3.5.5 was working fine.

This is on Karmic 64bit with now Firefox 3.5.6

That is not quite what I am experiencing, as I don't get any window to come up at all and I have tried all the things suggested there. Sorry I wasn't clear. I moved .mozilla out of my home folder which includes both ./mozilla/firefox and ./mozilla/plugins. Also, I tried rebooting my computer and that didn't help.

Just to add to this:

I tried running firefox --debug and there are no errors within GDB and it gets this far:

matt@matt-desktop:~$ firefox --debug
/usr/bin/gdb /usr/lib/firefox-3.5.6/firefox -x /tmp/mozargs.okUqHw

Okay, so apparently Firefox doesn't like running in an NX session after first being updated (i.e. I get it to work if I run it in vnc first). How irritating...

Looks like I was experiencing http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8481913, and I just happened to update firefox & start using NX with the specific problem settings at the same time because I'm on Vacation. This can be closed.
