Enable lock to system tray with password and/or hidden torrents

Heh. Back when ubuntu-desktop debated making Transmission its default BitTorrent client, that feature was cited as an example of Deluge's creeping featuritis --

It would be ironic, and probably ill-advised, for Transmission to add this feature on the Ubuntu desktop. ;)

Aha, interesting. Well, perhaps there could be a checkbox to use the gnome-keyring password instead?

Rejected by upstream developers, also we should ask ourselves if it's
good idea to throw just about any feature into programs. Especially now
that so much work is put into making Ubuntu easier to use and
comprehend.
We also don't have enough people to prepare and maintain this change
outside and without the blessing of the upstream project.

But what is the use case? If you have to leave your computer you just
lock whole screen. And when you are workin on it why would you want to
lock a single application? Maybe if the reason is good enough and common
we can discuss it further.

I understand now. I suppose the use case is relatively small and wouldn't make sense to implement within transmission, however it would be interesting to see this implemented in a way that could be used for any application that can be minimized to the tray: private downloads in transmission or deluge or whatever, embarrassing song of media collection in rhythmbox or banshee, etc. Might it be worth filing a wishlist bug report there?
