Bug Description

This issue was not happening with the previous release of Ubuntu, the 9.04.
After the upgrade to the latest release, the 9.10, when I select to susped the session, the pc is turned off and the power led is orange blinking, telling me the system is "suspended".
When I press again the power button, the laptop startup but then there is an error regarding the suspended session information stored and asks to reboot the pc.
This is the only way to make Linux load again. Unfortunately I don't know if this is caused by the new release itself or just the packet that is dealing with my laptop's power.
Contact me if you need any further information. :)
Thank you!

Hi Nicola,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 469806

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for the follow up on this issue.
I would like to add some other details to this bug that still persist despite the new Linux release.
When I first reported the bug, I had Linux installed from Windows XP. Now I have a dedicated hard drive and I have only this OS installed, release 10.04.
The hibernation function is working well but the suspend not yet. Now, when I activate this function, the laptop goes in suspend mode (led blinking orange) but when I press the power button to resume the session, the laptop reboot itself.
The Kernel is 2.6.32-22-generic, I'm looking forward to test the latest upstream kernel. I'm relatively new to Linux hence I'll read how to do this in the wiki.ubuntu.com website.
Please let me know if you need any further information in the meanwhile.
Cheers!

Hi Jeremy, hope you're well.
I would like to add that in the previous (9.10) and this latest release of Ubuntu (10.04), the restart command is not working as well.
When I do that, the system doesn't startup again, it's like doing a normal shutdown; I hope this information is useful to you or the devs.
Unfortunately I have a lot to learn about Linux hence I don't know what do to perform further troubleshooting, but I'm willing to follow up, if you have any additional command that I should run to obtain more information.

Thank you!
