Bug Description
As reported on the Marketing mailing list, the ubuntu marketing group was set up to deal directly with issues of creating a strategy for marketing ubuntu. Currently the team is without any sort of leadership, it doesn't hold very many meetings and so far has been more of a meeting place for other groups.
Originally reported by John Vilsack, there seems to have been political challenges to the organisation last time the marketing team attempted to move forwards. We have no detail yet on what these issues where or who was involved. But it's likely a SADFL type figure would have solved them.

I think sadly when it comes to contributing via to marketing Ubuntu we are not doing a very good job aside from efforts that LoCo's do.
Other communities have well defined "Marketing" and Mozilla is a good example of that. I recently talked to Ubuntu Design about the possibility of having some Web Banners made much like Mozilla has some that way contributors who have blogs could use them to market Ubuntu right on their blog.
