Bug Description

My laptop is an IBM Thinkpad T21 currently running the Dapper Beta. Hardware info: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SeanHammond?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=taptaplshw.html

The 'Supported Features' dialog of disks-admin for my DVD-ROM (MATSHITADVD-ROM SR-8175 /dev/hdc) has all 6 features marked with red circles, including two that my drive does support: Play Audio and Read DVD.

That seems very strange. What number does this command output:
python -c "import os, fcntl; f = os.open('/dev/hdc', os.O_RDONLY|os.O_NONBLOCK, 0); print fcntl.ioctl(f, 0x5331, 0);"
?

Could you attach a screenshot of the dialogue (Alt-PrintScreen).

Regarding bug #45242, which was reported afterwards (that both icons are the same shape, coloured Red and Green and that you are Red/Green colour-blind this might be useful to confirm the bug; (although that may just be incidental).

The number give indicates the drive said it could read DVDs and CDs but couldn't write them so a screenshot would be very interesting...

If you tell me some of those circles are actually green I'll be laughing out loud.

Let's just say I think we should up the severity on bug #45242 ...

You're kidding? Obviously, you aren't. But I have a fairly mild form of colour-blindness, and I'm staring at those icons really closely, and I cannot make out a difference. Bug #45242 is very severe indeed for colour-blind people.

It can't be just the fact of red and green icons, the particular shades must be very similar. This is hilarious.

Somebody should close this bug report or something, I don't think I have permission.

"Play Audio" and "Read DVD" are green, marking as duplicate of the bug #45242 then
