Update - Synaptic Package Manager also failed to install gstreamer0. 10-ffmpeg due to file not found. I reloaded packages, afterwards package manager was able to locate and install version 0.10.9-1. Rhythmbox now works fine. Problem appears to be related to Rhythmbox using outdated package information. Should Rhythmbox be attempting to reload package information independently before downloading the plugins? Otherwise typical user may not know that success is dependent on taking an action in a separate application.
