More specific archive file icons

Bug Description

Some archive file MIMEtypes have their own "custom" archive icon with its name, for example: application/zip has "zip" and application/x-rar has "rar".

I was wondering if the following MIMEtypes could have their own icons as well:

MIMEtype | "icon string"
application/x-ace | "ace"
application/x-archive | "ar"
application/x-arj | "arj"
application/x-bzip "bz2"
application/vnd.ms-cab-compressed | "cab"
application/x-cpio | "cpio"
application/x-gzip | "gz"
application/x-lha | "lha"
application/x-lzma | "lzma"
application/x-lzop | "lzo"
application/x-shar | "shar"
application/x-stuffit | "sit"
application/x-zoo | "zoo"

Thank you!

We already have icons for bz2 and gz , are they not working ? [they work in my install]

Just to make sure , you can download the latest version from lp:humanity , and test is again. [do note , several icons will change as we are updating the theme]

I can confirm that there are icons for .tar, .tar.gz, and some other, but not for .bz2 and .gz. I'm using the default humanity theme from Karmic.

mac_v, this wishlist is aimed at the Humanity theme supplied in the official Ubuntu repositories (which is what most of the Ubuntu users use to install and update stuff).
If 0.4.6 (or above release) is stable enough, try to push it to the official repositories.

It's good to know that you guys have not forsaken this entry (15% of whishlist done!). Thank you for your commitment!

I'm using the upstream version right now.

application/x-archive | "ar" wasn't implemented

There are a couple of archive types that are now used extensively in Slackware:

application/x-xz-compressed-tar | "tar.xz"
application/x-xz | "xz"

I also found that .msi files (Windows Installer Packages, application/x-msi) are using the text document icon.

Thanks

Tiago

In latest lucid, there are not any label in the icon like "tar.gz" or "zip", but the ones for the sound formats are still here.

Nicolas,

If the problem only affects Lucid, then it's probably a bug in Lucid. I can guarantee you that all of these icons have been drawn. There is nothing that we can do as an icon set to force the UI to use what we've drawn ;)

FWIW, it works fine for me in Jaunty and Karmic
