I had this bug today when i renamed my internet connection. The network mananger crashed when i had given my network connection a new name and pressed apply. I think i can reproduce this crash by doing it again.

My bug Bug #439136 was changed to a duplicate of this problem.

"Binary package hint: network-manager

I got this crash when I tried to change eth0 from dhcp to a static ip.
It reverted to dhcp.
Previously the edit button on wired eth0 was grayed out so I hope to change back to my static ip but without luck.

I have not checked the latest netmanager but the one a couple of days
ago would rewrite the file when I manually tried to write the file that
contains the name servers after I changed manually to a static ip."

I will get updates and retry tomorrow on both my two 9.04 upgraded PC which both are still using dhcp since I have not succeeded in setting a static ip address.

I can reproduce my bug without problems. This morning I updated my PC and tried again to set its IP to manual (static) and when I pressed the apply the nm_manger crashed. I checked my other Karmic PC which I also have problems in setting a static IP since I can set a nameserver, it is overwritten every time by the Network Manager and the wired network connected can not be edited by the applet. I checked what differences there are and found that on the machine that crashes the nm_manager, the /etc/network/interfaces file is empty. On the PC where I can not edit through the applet the file contains valid stuf.
I do not know if this can help.

Also, when reproducing this bug, the bug reporting program does not list #430781 as a possible already defined bug.
I can only add a new bug with it.

I confirm the bug, when you try to close nm-connection-editor make an error.

I was able to reproduce this crash with Karmic Beta, but just confirmed that's it fixed in the latest versions of NM ( 0.8~a~git.20091005t192303.1d28ad1-0ubuntu1 ), and the applet ( 0.8~a~git.20091002t194214.8515a07-0ubuntu1 ) that asac has uploaded to Karmic this evening.
