Eric, do you still have this problem? It works OK for me with claws-mail 3.7.2-1ubuntu3.

This bug still effects me with 3.7.2-1ubuntu3. I have attached an additional screen shot. This happens if you install claws, claws tray icon, and set gnome-panel to be transparent (right click on gnome-panel >> click on properties >> click the background tab >> select solid color >> move slider all the way to the left (transparent)).
