Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

From aptitude they both look the same:

i adobe-flashplugin - Adobe Flash Player plugin version 10

However the Adobe version is Shockwave Flash 10.0 r22. The update version is a newer version, not released by Adobe, and has some "issues" like you can't click within a flash animation, and the settings popup (privacy, camera, microphone) does not allow you to click it or close it. Here is what is installed on my system now, it is working perfectly. However if I allow the update it stops working. I would suggest reverting back to the -1 version...

Description: Ubuntu 8.10
Release: 8.10

adobe-flashplugin:
  Installed: 10.0.22.87-1
  Candidate: 10.0.22.87-2intrepid1
  Version table:
     10.0.22.87-2intrepid1 0
        500 http://archive.canonical.com intrepid/partner Packages
 *** 10.0.22.87-1 0
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Changed in firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid

It is not a duplicate. The package adobe-flashplayer is not the same as
what is distributed by Adobe. The Package is somehow newer. The older
package from Adobe works, the one in the updates does NOT. I can
uninstall both, install the updates one, and it does not let the camera
and microphone authorizaion work, your cant click. The one from Adobe
works fine. I however cant use either with Yo Ville on Facebook.Myspace.
Linux Flash sucks, however the Adobe one sucks less than the one in the
update stream that has the -intrepid attached...

Linux support sucks in Adobe. You do know that we dont package it separately right? Our scripts download it from adobe than make a .deb out of it.
We dont have adobe-flashplugin in repos anymore only for Hardy as i recall maybe intrepid but it does same thing that flashplugin-nonfree does. gets same version ect... This made it a bit easier to get version 10 on Hardy since we had backports issues.

these should be filed separately.

As for update and not working after is the same issue as the other bug since you state you are not using adobe's version.

I have the one from Adobe installed, and the one from update
banned...note the -1 and -2 differences, I think there is something
different between the two?
