Some parts of the gnome panel do not apper transparent, when transpaency is enabled

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Dear all!

When swithing on transparency on jaunty (9.04), not the whole panel gets transparent (See attached screenshot).

Steps to reproduce: Right click on the panel, chose Properties, then Background and move the slider to transparent.
Graphics driver: radeon

->lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release: 9.04

This feature was working on intrepid (8.10).

Thank you for taking time to report this. I can confirm it with an up-to-date Jaunty installation. It works with the Beta, but not with the daily live (2009-03-28), so it seems to be a regression.

The applets affected are the ones from the gnome-applets package - some other applets such as "Computer temperature monitor" are not affected (Python-based - but still using "change_background" call-back).
