Bug Description

Adobe released Adobe Reader 8.1.4 to solve a few security problems (Security Bulletin at [1]). It is localized as 8.1.3.
Adobe also did release Adobe Reader 9.1 for GNU/Linux. It is also available as .deb package, but only for i386. It is English only now.
Is it possible to give users the possibility to choose between "old" but localized 8.1.4 (to be updated on the repository) and new but English-only 9.1?

BTW, thanks for your work!

Gutsy will be EOL'd in less than a month, that's not worth the effort.

Hardy and intrepid will probably only ship acroread 8.x, and jaunty the 9.x one (see Bug #340767).

I have jaunty and medibuntu but still only see 8.x available. Am I missing something?

Marking as Won't Fix: acroread is now available in Canonical's partner repository, so Medibuntu packages won't be updated/will be removed.

Changed in medibuntu:
assignee: nobody → mrpouit
status: Incomplete → Won't Fix

Hello,

Thanks for the info. Yet I noticed that the package in Canonical's
partner repository isn't split between several small binary packages
  as you done at Medibuntu.

Lionel, I understand the reasons for your decision to no longer offer acroread packages in medibuntu. Given the rather sorry state of the packages from the partner repo and the fact that packages from debian-multimedia.org are readily available for syncing, I was wondering if you'd consider to revisit your earlier decision?

No, sorry. The packaging from debian-multimedia.org is really a pain to maintain (requires synchronized updates/uploads of lots of packages). Moreover, when a package is available is ubuntu/canonical repositories, I prefer to use this one rather than the one from debian/debian-multimedia.
Bugs have been filed against acroread in partner anyway, but apparently it won't be split, so it'll probably stay as-is for our packages too.
