vertical blank lines between applets on loading

Bug Description

when awn load on startup there are vertical blank lines between every applet.
lines are about double of the height of the bar.
when i put the mouse over the applets the bars disappear.
ubuntu 8.10
awn 0.3.2

Do you have an Nvidia video card? If so, please upgrade to the 180 series graphics drivers.

I've just upgraded to 180 but the problem still exist.

Is the driver actually used? Did you restart after installing it?

Yes i did. the driver manager indicates active and used.

I have exactly the same problem.

I also got nvidia with 180 series graphics drivers.

Same here. I'm running jaunty. Tried both the 180 series from repo, and beta 185 series (185.18.10).
I used awn 0.3.2.1 from the core PPA (https://launchpad.net/~awn-core/+archive/ppa), and i tried both the metacity and compiz compositor.
I would like to have awn hidden until it is completely loaded. Could you completely disable the "bar" grow/shrink and icons sliding animation somehow (i guess that would also work).

This was fixed in the latest (0.3.9) version of Awn (http://wiki.awn-project.org/DistributionGuides#Testing_Package_Archive).
