cd/dvd writer doesn't work

hi I have installed ubuntu intrepid ibex on my dell inspirion. I cannot burn iso cd's using my burner. I installed cd/dvd burner gnome baker and I get the following errors when i try to burn an iso file.

here is the following error:

I've been getting the same error in K3b since 7.10. This issue seems to have never been resolved.
