Bug Description

Since around the time the URL was changed into the less ridiculous format, it has been visible to everybody. While this is no security risk, it does have a private-looking icon next to it, and is useless clutter to anybody except the owner.

This looks like a bug, I see a lock next to the OpenID URL which means it is private to the owner. I certainly do not think this should be shown to me. when I am anonymous.

The link is public.

The right fix is to remove the private icon.

There is nothing private about your Launchpad profile URL.

But there is also nothing useful about it. I have it in the address bar if I really do want it.

I agree with William. It's just noise of no use to anyone except the logged in user looking at his own page.

Can other users cannot act upon my OpenID information? Can someone
really contact me knowing my OpenID Identifier? If so it can stay on
that page. I believe this information is only useful to me when I want
to confirm my identity when I sees it presented on another site--so no
one should see it but me.

We have a number of registry bugs regarding the appropriateness of
information. The outcome of this will probably affect those other bugs.
For example, I cannot act upon the map on my own profile page, so I do
not think it should be wasting space.

I think we need to be very careful about minimizing the information we
show to users so that crucial information and actionable items are not
lost in the ambient noise.
