Bug Description

Ubuntu Intrepid - 2.6.27-11-generic - Gnome 2.24.1

On a lenovo 3000 n200, the keyboard shortcuts for the sound and going to sleep are nor working if a pop-down menu is active. Nothing happens and nothing shows on screen.
On my keyboard, the shortcuts are Fn+Esc, Fn+F1, and Fn+F2 for sound (respectively mute, down, and up), and Fn+F4 for suspend.

The shortcuts for the backlight work but nothing is displayed on screen like it does when no pop-down menu is active.

I don't know if it's really a bug but it might explain why I sometimes have to press Fn+Esc twice before it goes mute (then it works as it should).

I'm not use to report bugs so please let me know if there's any other information I should provide here.

Thank you for reporting this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better!

I've tried to reproduce your problem following this steps:
1) Opened firefox
2) Clicked Edit menu
3) Tried to raise volume with shortcuts

It didn't work as you have described in your report.

I'm going to move this report to gnome-control-center although I'm not sure that this is the appropriate place.
