Bug Description

I have a wubi installation of ubuntu on my amd64 laptop.
Free space was scarce and i ran synaptic in order to iinstall missing packages for compiling a program from source, when computersuddenly halts and doesn't react to anything, mouse doesn't move and I can't restart the comp with ctr+alt+del, so i had to pull the plug

not a wxwidgets error. likely a corrupted wxwidgets archive on the disk.

Looking at the attached dpkg-log, the following line shows the following reason for this problem:

dpkg: Fehler beim Bearbeiten von /var/cache/apt/archives/python-wxgtk2.8-dbg_2.8.8.0-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb (--unpack):
fehlgeschlagen in buffer_write(fd) (10, ret=-1): Backend dpkg-deb während »./usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/wx-2.8-gtk2-unicode/wx/_stc_d.so«: No space left on device

"no space left on device" means that simply the disk ran out of space here, I don't think this is a problem of the package itself but rather shortage of general disk space is the cause of this problem.

Therefore I am closing this as duplicate of bug 312491 where improving the error message display is discussed, for now please try to make more space available on your harddrive and then try again.
